A Study of the Foundations of Zulaikha's Characterization Myths in Yusuf and Zulaikha Jami

Abstract

Since the myth is considered as an eternal thing, therefore, it can be acknowledged that the myth, among all the literary works of the world, continues to live in different forms and in different dimensions and in the form of various personalities. The purpose of the current research is to investigate the mythological foundations of the character of Zuleikha in Yusuf and Zuleikha Jami and its connection with the myth of Isis. Therefore, in this research, the common themes between the two main characters (Zulekha and Isis) are investigated to the degree of proximity and borrowing of Zulekha from the model of her myths; That is, Isis should be identified, in addition to this, the relationship, closeness, and similarity of the actions and personalities of Yusuf and Zuleikha with other myths have also been discussed. The obtained results indicate that the story of Yusuf and Zuleikha is connected with the myth of Isis and Osiris, and the personality of Zuleikha in Yusuf and Zuleikha Jami is similar to the mythical personality of Isis in some ways, including authenticity and beauty, love, hardness, fertility goddess, etc. Therefore, it can be said that the mythological origin of Zuleikha is the myth of Isis.
