Abstract

Popular beliefs have a significant frequency in Rumi's poems. These beliefs are one of the poet's tools to understand the intention and thought. In this research, we have investigated public beliefs in the second book of Masnavi. Popular literature is one of the cultural commonalities of a society and among the factors of connecting society members to each other. From another point of view, public literature is a reflection of people's social life and indicates their character and thought; Therefore, it is necessary to address it. This research has been done in a descriptive-analytical way using library resources. To carry out this research, all the verses of the second book of the Masnavi have been examined. Since the relationship between popular beliefs and literary works is an interactive relationship, conducting such research can lead to a better understanding of ancient texts, and on the other hand, by recording these beliefs in his poetry, the poet can perpetuate and reflect public culture. has helped The findings of this research reveal to us that the reflection of popular culture is in the following concepts in the Masnavi: 1- Belief in destiny and destiny for human beings 2- Counting daily affairs as good or bad and... Since Rumi had a comprehensive relationship with the people of his time, it is natural that his poetry is a reflection of the true or false beliefs of that time, and this does not mean that Rumi himself believed in all the things raised in his poetry.
